We wake up very early, at 4:30 am, to embark on an incredible boat trip to the largest macaw clay lick in the world «EL CHUNCHO», a trip of approximately 1:30 hours by boat, on the way we will have the opportunity to see some species such as capybaras, which is the largest rodent in the world, tapirs, and you can even see the most beautiful South American feline, the jaguar, many of our clients are witnesses with photographic evidence of encounters with these beautiful mammals.
After arrival at the macaw clay lick, you will see hundreds of parrots of different species coming to eat clay by the river on the wall. We will settle into our chairs to wait for the start of one of the most beautiful natural bird shows in the world. The parrots are followed by 3 species of the most colorful macaws in America, red and green, blue and yellow macaws come together to eat the clay needed in their daily diet and eliminate toxins. On a good day of activity you will see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying overhead. An experience of a lifetime
Return to our lodge, breakfast and rest time.
- Then we will walk through the botanical garden where you can observe some fruit, timber and medicinal species of our area, accompanied by our guide. Lunch
In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to kayak on the Tambopata River where we will move silently along the river, so we will have more opportunity to observe the largest animals of the Tambopata Reserve.
For the night free to rest or possibility of another night walk.
DAY 3.- Explore the Mammal Clay Lick in the Tambopata National Reserve
This five- to eight-kilometer trail covers the prototype of tropical forest with immense trees crossed by streams and ponds. Between figs, ceibas and shihuahuacos we will opt for the mammalian clay lick… Squirrel monkeys, brown capuchin, red howler and peccaries. Within this habitat is the Tambopata Inn Clay Lick.
The waters of the Tambopata River offer us a variety of fish such as Payaras, Pacu (Giant Piranha), Catfish (Zungaros, Piros, Surubim, etc.) We usually fish for 2 hours on our third afternoon, with our local methots. We always have a very good chance of catching some. If you want to fish for piranhas, we will be happy to do so.
DAY 4 Walk through aquatic habitats and ecology
A different type of floodplain forest is available in a half-day activity. Crossing the Tambopata River and a 2-hour hike, we will finally arrive at Lake Quiroz, a small lake with caimans, turtles active even during the day, a nice hike through the jungle to the Tambopata National Reserve where we will focus on the forest and ecology.
