ITINERARY
DAY 1 PUERTO MALDONADO / MONKEY ISLAND / ACCOMMODATION
Airport or bus station pickup and transfer to the port (port captain). 15-minute motorized boat ride down the Madre de Dios River to our lodge, where we will settle into our comfortable rooms, accompanied by our tour guide. Afterward, we will walk along the lodge’s trails, where our guide will explain the local flora and fauna. After lunch, we will take a 20-minute boat ride to Monkey Island, where we will have the opportunity to observe some of the monkey species that inhabit this island. Then, we will search for capybaras and caimans with the help of flashlights. We will observe the caimans’ red eyes, and our guide will explain everything about them. We will return to the lodge, where we will spend the night in our comfortable accommodations.
DAY 2 TAMBOPATA RESERVE “LAKE SANDOVAL” / LAKE PADDLING / HIKING
We’ll prepare to visit Lake Sandoval. From our lodge, we’ll take a 10-minute boat ride to the port on the shores of Lake Sandoval, where we’ll enter the Tambopata Reserve, “Lake Sandoval,” on an approximately 1-hour hike. Afterward, we’ll take a canoe to explore this beautiful lake, home to numerous birds and animals. We’ll return to the lodge for lunch, and after lunch, we’ll enjoy the sunset. We may spot sloths, capybaras, and caimans. We’ll have dinner and spend the night at our comfortable lodge.
DAY 3 CANOPY WALK, KAYAKING / FISHING / LODGING
Very early in the morning, at 5:00 a.m., we will visit the parrot clay lick, La Cachuela. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes upstream from the city of Puerto Maldonado. There, you can observe various species of parrots that gather on the banks of the Madre de Dios River to lick the clay in a multicolored spectacle of flight and calls—an unforgettable experience. It will also be possible to spot sloths. After breakfast, we will take our kayaks from the lodge along the Madre de Dios River and arrive at the adventure activity center. We will walk for 5 minutes and then ascend a 20-meter-high tower, from where, via suspension bridges, we can observe the rainforest from the treetops, as the animals see it. Afterward, we will return to the lodge for lunch. We will then go fishing in our boat. Dinner will be served, and we will spend the night at the lodge.
DAY 4 NATIVE FAMILY / PUERTO MALDONADO /AIRPORT OR BUS STATION
after breakfast around 9:30 am. We will visit the native local family of the (Machiguenga community), where we will be able to interact with Them, talking and learning about their culture, return to the lodge and from there we will get ready to pack and we will take you on our motorized boat to Puerto Maldonado, and from there to the airport, bus terminal or hotel
