Collpas Chuncho Amazon + Sandoval lake 4 days / 3 nights
4 Days – 3 Nights
ITINERARY
DAY 1 Puerto Maldonado / 4×4 Excursion / Accommodation
Your guide will be waiting for you at the airport or bus terminal and will take you to our office, located about 5 minutes from the airport in Puerto Maldonado. There we will register and make some last minute purchases to acquire items that we have forgotten, such as batteries or a poncho. Then, we will start a journey in a 4×4 truck for 2 hours until we reach the community of Philadelphia. From there, we will sail by motorboat on the Tambopata River for a few minutes until we reach a refuge, where we will spend the night so that the next day we can visit the macaw clay lick “El Chuncho”. Upon arrival at the hostel, we will settle in and then begin an introductory hike through the Amazon. The visit to our 50-meter canopy tower will complete this first experience.
You will have the option to take the boat in the afternoon and observe black and white caimans along the Tambopata River; It is an amazing experience to see the reptile in its natural habitat.
DAY 2 Lodge / Chuncho Macaw Splash / Night Hike
We will get up very early, at 5:00 AM, to travel by speedboat on the Tambopata River for about an hour at sunrise. The scenery is spectacular. We will have the opportunity to see a jaguar or perhaps an anaconda, a ronsoco, etc., on the shores of our Tambopata National Reserve. Upon arrival at our destination, the macaw clay lick “Chuncho”, we will enjoy a parrot and macaw show and learn first-hand why these birds, and many other mammals, need the clay from this wall in their daily diet throughout the year. It is a spectacular spectacle that entertains us from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Our delicious breakfast will be served in front of the macaw clay lick. Return to the lodge. Having finished our activity, we will make a short visit to the checkpoint to learn more at a small museum located on this site. We will continue to our accommodation for lunch, and then we will prepare to return to Puerto Maldonado, and from there we will take a boat to travel down the Madre de Dios River, for 10 minutes to our next accommodation, in the middle of the Amazon jungle, where we will spend the night away from the city in our comfortable accommodation.
DAY 3.- Tambopata Reserve “Sandoval Lake” / return to Amazon Lodge
After breakfast, we will get ready to visit Lake Sandoval for the whole day. From our accommodation, we will travel 10 minutes by boat until we reach the shore of the port of Lake Sandoval, from where we will enter the Tambopata Reserve “Lago Sandoval” walking approximately one hour. We will then arrive at the lake, where we will take a canoe to tour this beautiful lake that is home to a wide variety of birds and animals. At noon, we will have lunch at a restaurant on the shores of Lake Sandoval. After lunch, those who wish to do so can swim in Lake Sandoval without any danger. Finally, we will return to our comfortable accommodation.
DAY 4 Accommodation / Puerto Maldonado / airport, bus station or hotel
After breakfast, we will take our kayaks from our accommodation, along the Madre de Dios River and arrive at the adventure activity center. We will walk for 5 minutes and then ascend to a 20-meter-high tower. From there, we will cross hanging bridges to see the jungle from the top of the trees, as the animals see it.
